The Domino Effect by Tamra Bunting
According to the Urban dictionary the domino effect also known as the butterfly effect is the theory that even the smallest step one takes in his/her life can change the course of said life immensely. The name of this theory came to be when a Chaos Theory stated: “It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.” Ironic isn’t it? After all, a typhoon is exactly what is left in the wake of suicide … ” … it’s like coming back to consciousness in the middle of a thick forest in heavy fog. I can see about five feet in front of me but that’s it, and I have to get out. There’s no way to hurry, too many low-hanging branches and rocks and unstable footing. I just have to pick a direction and hope I’m going the right way, ’cause I just …. don’t ….. know. And it seems to go on and on and on and on and on ….. with no real way to tell whether I’m getting anywhere or not.” Would it surprise you that those words were not spoken by a suicidal person but by a mother left behind to deal with the domino effect of her daughter’s suicide?
Your actions have more of an effect on those around you than you can even begin to fathom. If someone you loved would copy your life or death decision, would it chance your mind? What if I told you suicide is contagious? Would you make the same decision? What if 1 in 5 people would replicate your decision between life or death, it could be a family member, friend or stranger, would that change your mind? I don’t ask th is to cause guilt or fear but because in reality suicide is contagious as is proven in the fact that a person that loses a loved one to suicide is 65% more likely to attempt suicide themselves. ” I’ve spent days trying to piece together the puzzle of her death, hours lost trying to unlock hidden messages in emails several years old. What did I miss? How I could have saved her?” ~Jamie Katoff Whether you are trying to piece together your life after sudden suicidal loss of a loved one or if you yourself feel alone and desperate to make everything stop … reach out and grasp the hand, we at The Sanctuary Soul Centre are offering to help you figure out this thing called life.
“If say, Surely the darkness will hide me and the Light become night around me. even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”
